Lacemaking workshop with Dagmar Beckel Machyckova

Friday, October 8 @ 1:00pm
Third Floor Terrace, Nancy Nicholas Hall

Join us for a special lacemaking workshop with internationally renowned, Wisconsin-based Dagmar Beckel Machyckova. Educated at a lace school in Prague, Czech Republic, Dagmar has been pursuing both the preservation of traditional lace patterns and the possibilities of contemporary lace. While she has made lace pieces using needle lace, tatting, and crochet techniques her true love remains bobbin lace. Her work has been featured on the cover of the IOLI Magazine, and in “Lace, not Lace, Contemporary Fiber Art from Lacemaking Techniques” a contemporary lace exhibition in Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, NJ, featuring 26 artists from around the globe. Dagmar’s currently part of the leadership team of TheAdventurousLacemakers.com, an international project that aims to make contemporary lacemaking and lace design easy and accessible as well as the Brooklyn, NY Lace Guild.

Workshop is FULL.
