April 27- May 27, 2022 | Ruth Davis Design Gallery
Third year Design Studies graduate student Nora Renick Rinehart presents Camp Camp, a Master of Fine Arts Exhibit taking place April 27 – May 27, 2022 in the Ruth Davis Design Gallery.
Camp Camp is a dynamic installation that utilizes the structures of summer camp and the language of camp in fashion to explore queerness, coming of age and community. Nora Renick Rinehart’s new sculptural pieces use stereotypically queer fashion elements as a shorthand for queer culture, simultaneously celebrating queer fashion history and questioning the available spectrum of representation. Through the use of lighting and other theater-esque set-dressing techniques, Camp Camp will provide viewers with a whole-body experience in a fantastical, energized space. Additionally, Camp Camp will incorporate a series of “educational” programming: arts and crafts activities where participants can become campers. Camp Camp will be a space for conversations and collaborations between the artist and attendees alike and will investigate how to use a gallery space as the framework for community.
