The Portal: A Step into the Past
The Portal is a juried online exhibition featuring student-designed historic interiors. The virtual exhibition will be hosted by the Center of Design and Material Culture with the purpose of showcasing selected period rooms designed by students of the course DS 422: History of Architecture (18th Century to Present) as their final project for the Fall 2020 semester. These projects represent a wide range of design styles and were created using a variety of software and media. All students who completed this project in the Fall 2020 semester are welcome to submit their project to the exhibition, no matter the medium/program employed.
The window for submitting projects is March 23-April 8, 2021 [deadline extended from April 6th]. A shared drive link has already been distributed to students, but contact email@example.com if you have not received access. All projects submitted within this window will be considered by the jury for the exhibit.
Special awards will be conferred to a number of designers whose projects stand out amongst the others. These awards will be decided by the jury. Click above for full submissions guidelines and juror information. Students will find out if they were accepted into the exhibition via their school emails during the week of April 12th. The exhibition will go live at the end of the semester here on the CDMC website.
