2026 Summer Fellowship Symposium

Nancy Nicholas Hall
@ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Nancy M. Bruce Center for Design and Material Culture is pleased to host our 7th annual Summer Fellowship Symposium on Friday, September 18 at 9:00 AM. This year we will have students presenting from multiple fellowship programs hosted through the center.

The Chipstone-CDMC Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship, in partnership with the Chipstone Foundation, is in it’s 7th year and offers undergraduate UW–Madison students an opportunity to conduct research in one of the three pillars of the center’s: textiles, material culture, and design.

With the support of Dean Soyeon ShimStartingBlock and the Wisconsin Entrepreneurship Hub have partnered with the School of Human Ecology to present the first SoHE Summer Innovation & Entrepreneurship Fellowship as a pilot program within the center’s Design Pillar.

Finally, this year we have begun a cross-departmental fellowship, CDMC+Frank Lloyd Wright+Art History Fellowship for UW–Madison students to engage with historic design and architecture in collaboration with Prof. Anna Andrzejewski, Frank Lloyd Wright Professor of Modern American Architecture

Additional information about the 2026 cohort of fellows can be found below. This program will be held in-person in Elizabeth Holloway Schar Hall (5th Floor) in Nancy Nicholas Hall. This will also be available to watch online.
