This event has passed. Watch the recording HERE.
Xia Gao presents her work and her exploration of equity through her practice. “I would never feel confident to say that my work centers on equity. I would often say that it addresses cultural, social, economic, gender, and environmental issues. However, as a female immigrant trying to find my identity in shifted contexts, a sense of unsettlement has played a big part in my artistic expression, which relates to dislocation and relocation, adaptation and confrontation, and concealment and reveals. In this presentation, I would love to share the growth of my artistic voice in expressing these challenges and experiences that have intentionally or unintentionally touched on equity. And how much I have been learning about equity through art/design teaching.”
This event is part of the Equity & Justice Network Design Series and co-sponsored by the Design Studies Department.
